I was inspired by the pandemic’s affect on the car rental industry. During 2021, the car industry is facing a shortage due to supply chain issues so consumers are now looking to rental companies for their commuting needs.
Users don't have to create an account to view Hertz's prices. They can start a reservation by inputting the date and location of where they would like to pick up the rental car.
Users can filter results to fit their needs through price, miles, type of vehicle, and specific features like a backup camera or bluetooth.
Key information is broken down to empower users to make decisions. Information on product listing pages are simplified to reservation dates, pick up location, mileage included, and features.
Once users click to purchase, they can create an account and get verified to drive if they haven't done so already.
The insurance section is simplified to help users make decisions.
Users can modify or cancel their reservation before it starts.
Picking up the car from Hertz is now a contactless experience. Users can check in once they get to their chosen location and be guided to their rental car.
Once the car has been located, the user can unlock it via bluetooth and start the inspection. Photos will be documented for any pre-existing damage, check mileage and fuel levels, and retrieve the key.
Hertz partned with SpotHero so users can reserve a parking spot ahead of time in any available location. Now users don’t have to worry about parking if they aren’t familiar with the area.
When the reservation ends, the user can checkout and take photos to report any damage that may have occurred during the trip.
Once inspection is finished, the user will be guided to the key drop box and receive a confirmation.
